Brazil Day 8: See You Later

I woke up to the boat rocking and I could hear Julie and Fred talking and struggling to open the door to our room while maintaining balance. Then uncle Fred fell forward onto Julie's mattress on the floor and my bed where he elbowed my head. It actually didn't hurt and I only had a tiny headache for a little while. I actually laughed really hard with the vision of Uncle Fred flying through the room. Mom saw the entire thing go down and was crying because she was laughing so hard.
When we got up we were almost back to Belem since we had been travelling during part of the night. It was beautiful to wake up to the fresh air blowing and the sun shining. With most trips like this, everyone starts to realize that the good-byes are coming so the cameras come out and to take last minute pictures and we started to exchange information with our new Brazilian friends.

I learned that the toilet was named after me, gross but funny.

I had the honor of presenting a thank you gift to the cook! She deserved it!

We then headed into Belem. We walked around for a little while and we went to the Bible Society in Belem. Inside there were books, Bibles, and tracks. Next we went to the market by the port in Belem. Sunday when we went there it was pretty much completely closed (that was when we were told to turn back by the police). I loved seeing all of the fruits, beans, vegetables, herbs, animals, and crafts. We walked down by the port and then found the fish market. It was actually closing up soon but we were able to see some fishermen and their products.

We came back and looked at the craft tents.

Green house in the middle of the market.
Trying Acai which are berries only found in the Amazon rain-forest. It is number 1 with antioxidants.

We got hammocks from this guy. Thanks to Isaias, who helped us with communicating.
After the market we went to a more touristy part of Belem for dinner. There was a large pier with a gorgeous view.

When the tide is in the water is up to the top of these plants.

There were some Amazon animals in this facility.
Tom and I are apparently toilet buddies... Tom's last name is Moen like the appliances and there was a toilet with "Elizabeth" on it.
After a day at the market everyone met at our hotel to say goodbyes and we got one last picture.

During our last devotional we were reminded that we will likely not see the Brazilians again in this life, but as believers we will all be together again with our Savior. I honestly get chills thinking about standing beside these wonderful people and being able to communicate with each other freely without language barriers, and even more so, to praise God with one language and one voice. So today instead of good-byes, we said see you later!
